A mystery package

I got a little FedEx Door Tag. It was left on my door today while I was at work. It says that a package has been sent to me, but I must sign to receive it. Could it be the hard drive case that I ordered? It's mighty fancy, and I am eager to receive it. But, the web store that I purchased it from says that my order is still pending. Though, they don't always update the order status. I don't know how it is meant to be shipped either, because there is only one option for shipping which is cleverly named "shipping." So, it might come FedEx, it could arrive via swallow, who knows. But how would a swallow grip it?

The last time I received a Door Tag from FedEx was a few days ago. I was overwhelmed with excitement and drove right to the FedEx office (which is very close to where I work, so I effectively drove back to work after I got home). I was thrilled at the thought that I'd be able to put that hard drive to work backing up my data.

You can imagine my disappointment when I discovered that I hadn't been sent a package at all, but rather a cease and desist letter of sorts from a lawyer in San Francisco. She had written the letter to inform me of a few trademarks that exist — ones that she felt that I should be aware of. It was a grand experience to be sent such a letter to be sure, but it would have been far grander to receive that hard drive case and start storing data on it.

So here I am. Sitting before a new FedEx Door Tag. Like the one I received last week, I do not have the option of signing the tag and letting the courier leave the package at the door. But I'm somehow not as excited to go pick this one up. Sure, it could be my package; but judging from the signature requirements, it's more than likely just another letter from the same lawyer.

I can go get it as early as 7:00pm, that's a little more than an hour away. I don't think I will tonight. In fact, I don't think I will for a few days. I don't mind that it sit at FedEx. I'll go pick it up when it's convenient for me. After they drop off a few notes, and after I still haven't come to get it, I'm certain they'll leave me a note that says they're tired of leaving notes and that I can come into the office to pick it up any time. I'll wait until then.

Rest easy, I got mine.

My HD case showed up in the mail today - FexEx delivered it a day early even. Tee hee.

FW800 is really freakin' fast, btw...

What case did you order?

case

I ordered a network storage case. Kurobox, specifically. I was given a gift certificate to CompUSA for Christmas, and I bought a HD there, but their cases suck. So I was looking around online for cases, and I was gonna be in at least $50 for something. Then I thought to myself, screw it. I got the HD as a gift, I can spend a little on the case, so I went all out and got the Kuro.

I'm really excited about having a 200MHz Linux box on my network. I got all excited about it after reading this article on it's capabilities.

Thanks, str! I'm glad you like it! I'm oddly enjoying it too. I didn't think I'd get into blogging, but lo and behold, here I am. :)

Kuro, Kuro, Kuro

You'll have to keep us updated on the progress of your setup. I too was tempted by that (after you first talked about it on CH54) but it was a bit more than I wanted to spend.

You'll have to write a few entries here on the progress of your setup.
